Over the past few weeks Ashlyn has really started to take interest in everything i'm doing. To encourage her i've started to allow her to help me cook and clean. Last week she helped me make homemade Strawberry Shortcake. She stood on a chair next to me and helped pour all the wet and dry ingredients into the bowl. I love watching her face light up as she learns something new and gets to enjoy a little more independence. Last night as I was sweeping the floor she decided that she needed to help and took the broom from me. She had the best time! Today as I was dusting the entertainment center she came over and wanted to help so I let her take over for a little while. I just hope she will continue to want to help as she gets older. In a few years we will implement a chore chart where she can earn an allowance for helping out around the house. It's amazing how quickly she is growing up. I'm overcome with happiness everytime I watch her learn something new and i'm so thrilled that i'm able to stay home to witness these moments as they happen.
